Welcome to the 2011 Season. A warm welcome to all members and visitors. Season starts at the end of February with a crack at spring salmon, then a try for a seatrout. Brown trout next up from 15th March onwards. The Club would like to thank North Uist Estate for their generosity in providing a lot of our venues. There’s a full list of outings on the relevant web page and shortly after each I’ll try to tell you what happened. From the 2011 Outings page you can go back to the 2010 Outings page for no particular reason unless you want to see what happened last year at a similar outing. Anyway, when you’re not jumping back and forward in time, I hope you get out fishing and have a memorable season.
Subscriptions. At the AGM in December it was agreed that the subscription rate would remain at £25.00 for the year. Again tremendous value for the range of fishing available to us. Please pay your subs to the Secretary as soon as possible and certainly before the end of April. Any cheques should be made payable to NUAC.
Committee. Also at the AGM a new committee was elected. H Morrison (Chairman), S Wiseman(Vice Chair), P Harding (Secretary), O Foote, F MacLeod and W Marshall. As always a sterling bunch of guys and only one beard between them!

SAA & NUAC. Operate a system whereby club members may fish the waters of the other Club. Any member who wishes to take advantage of this excellent arrangement should contact Phillip who holds two complementary tickets for SAA’s River Creed.
North Uist Estate. Kindly grants the Club access to Grimsay seapools on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This year they have been very generous in providing us with access to Carinish sea pools as well. The club will be able to fish on a Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with an additional “floating day” through the week. This excellent concession is for members based on North Uist only and bookings must be made through Phillip.
Float Tubes. The Club now own three Float Tubes for the use of members and only on the Clubs waters. Please contact Phillip for availability and for those less confident we will try to arrange a spot of tuition.
The Site. If you come across any news or features with a North Uist connection please feel free to pass them on for possible inclusion either in the site or as a link.
Emails. If you are a member who still receives their Club updates by post and you have an email address please pass it on to Philip. You’ll then get your news that wee bit sooner and help preserve trees although not necessarily on North Uist.
John Campbell. Sad news has just reached me that John who was a Patron of the Club passed away quite suddenly last week in Ayr. John was a true gentleman and together with his brother Alec was generous to a fault. Very few homes of anglers on North Uist won’t have a house name plate presented by the brothers and very few past prize winners won’t have a framed collection of flies gifted by them as a permanent reminder. We know he will be sorely missed by his sister and by his nephew Dennis who still makes a trip over here for a bit of fishing and our thoughts are with them. Members will like to know that the Club has sent a card of condolence.
Tony Emsley. Very sad to report that Tony passed away while I was on holiday. Although he hadn’t been on an outing for some time due to ill health, Tony was keen as mustard. For season after season Tony was an ever present at each outing. The Club present a trophy for the most attendances and Tony’s name was engraved on it year after year after year. He walked for miles, fished diligently and I know he won’t mind me saying it but he never really troubled the fish population. Tony was there rain or shine, enjoying himself whether he caught or not. Our best wishes go to Tony’s wife Edna in Hougharry and his children and grandchildren on the mainland.
